AV Sales Business Development Manager (Non-Education)

Job Purpose:        

For over 20 years, Proactive AV has provided a unique and outstanding regional based AV service across education in the East, East Midlands, and the Southeast. As a result, customer satisfaction and our reputation are excellent and we provide a fulfilling and satisfying work environment for our staff.

We now seek expansion into new corporate (non-education) sectors and require an individual with a proven record of building revenue growth to help us achieve this aim as well as the ability to bring previous contacts/business relationships.

You will develop corporate strategy and build and establish corporate business contacts to generate substantial AV sales to generate profit and ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business through securing new strategic client relationships across our geographic “patch”.

You will have recent, strong relationships in the AV world and knowledge of AV products including projection, digital signage, touch screens and commercial displays, MTRs, and LED video walls.

The successful candidate will be backed by a fully trained internal sales support team who will help prepare proposals, tenders, and installation scheduling.

Reports to the MD

FTE hours are 40 per week, Monday to Friday, flexibility is required as start/finish times will vary.

Salary – competitive & based on experience and ability to deliver on a self-managed basis

A Hybrid working arrangement between our office and your home may be possible.

You will need to be located within an hour’s drive from our office to be able to attend regular meetings. We’re based just south of Peterborough and our working area is approximately 2 hours max from this location

 Main Duties

  • Corporate growth strategy planning to meet given revenue targets.
  • Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities.
  • Plan meetings and deliver high-impact sales presentations alone or with technical support.
  • Professionally represent the business at industry events and customer meetings to develop market/sector presence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with large customers to foster loyalty and repeat business by being proactive, responsive, and keeping in regular contact.
  • Writing of proposals/bids.
  • Ensure new products are offered as needs change and renewal opportunities are maximized and ensure customer needs are met.
  • Ensure own product knowledge is refreshed as new products come on market.
  • Maintenance of database to ensure all corporate customer records are updated & new ones added.
  • Liaise with Sales & Engineering teams to ensure smooth AV installations.
  • Assist with planning all corporate sales campaigns.

Essential Skills / Experience 

  • Driven and proactive “finisher” to meet objectives and secure sales to exceed targets.
  • Proven successful AV sales experience to non-education customers.
  • Successful record of meeting monthly revenue/GP targets.
  • Ability to bring to us opportunities from previous contacts/business relationships.
  • Commercially astute & numerate.
  • Highly organised and able to multi-task and prioritise.
  • Ability to envisage and produce strategy plans and goals and evaluate and track progress.
  • Excellent telephone manner and strong communication skills.
  • Self-motivated to keep updated with latest AV products and trends & ability to & advise customers on best products to suit their needs.
  • Consultative sales approach.
  • Experience of face-to-face sales meetings & high-level negotiations.
  • Demonstrable team-working.
  • IT desktop competent e.g. Use of Microsoft Office, CRM database, digital forms.
  • Use of own transport for travel to sales meetings at customer sites.
  • Must agree to an enhanced DBS check.
  • Must wear branded clothing for customer meetings & be of hygienic and presentable appearance.
  • Willing to undertake training on and off-site.
  • Represents the company with a strong work ethic, high integrity, honesty, loyalty, and professionalism.
  • Must work to health & safety procedures in all aspects of the job.
